Fire crews called to chimney blaze in St Michael's

Fire crews were called to put out a chimney blaze in St Michael’s, Tenterden, last night.

They were called out to a three-storey property in Ashford Road just after 5pm.

Crew members carried out a full inspection of the chimney and fitted smoke alarms to the property,

Kent Fire and Rescue has issued a reminder to owners of wood burners, both domestic and residential, to keep chimneys swept and inspected regularly. The service is also advising that people sign up to its clean sweep alert which provides reminder emails about chimney maintenance.
