A person has died after becoming unwell at a leisure centre.

Police and the ambulance service attended Tenterden Leisure Centre in Recreation Ground Road this morning.

The person was believed to be a customer at the gym.

Ambulance service spokesman Rich Airey said: "I can confirm that ambulance crews attended the leisure centre to reports a person had collapsed at approximately 9.45am today.

"Sadly despite the best efforts of everyone, the person died at the scene."

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 9.46am today to a report of a medical incident.

"Officers attended Tenterden Leisure Centre to assist crews from the South East Coast Ambulance Service."
