Power and telephone lines were damaged when a tree came crashing to the ground overnight.

Engineers are now on site but Kent Highways has warned the country road in Rolvenden will remain shut for most of the day.

A large tree collapsed on Maytham Road and the road is closed between Pix's Lane and Frensham Road.

A statement from Kent Highways said: "KCC Highways, BT and UKPN have attended site. The damaged power lines and BT infrastructure have been made safe."

The tree is being removed by Kent County Council staff and once it is removed UK Power Networks will repair the power cables.

Drivers have been advised to find an alternative route.
