Highways teams have removed a new speed limit sign wrongly installed on a road in Tenterden.

The new 40 mph speed limit sign was attached to a street light on the A28 Ashford Road in St Michaels near to the fire station.

Tenterden town councillor Sue Ferguson said that the incorrect signage was noticed by a resident last night.

The sign which appeared in St Michaels has now been taken down.

The My Tenterden town tweet said: "Brand new 40mph speed sign in Tenterden by the Fire Station, St Michaels ... BUT @KentHighways the speed limit here is 30 not 40"

Kent Highways responded saying: "This has now been removed by one of our Highways Stewards and the Street lighting team have been informed."
