£20

THE mystery benefactor who delivers plain envelopes containing money to houses in the Thanet area has returned.

Sarah Boughton found the mysterious gift of £20 in a brown paper envelope on the doormat when she returned to her home at Clements Road, Ramsgate, following an evening out on Sunday.

It follows a spate of postings at houses in the town early last year when cash was posted at a number of homes without any other information given to householders.

Miss Boughton said: "It was a complete shock. At first I thought someone has sent an empty envelope through the door. It had no address and nothing else inside apart from the money.

"I remember the mystery benefactor last year and I can only say that this was a lovely surprise after an expensive Christmas period. Thank you, whoever you are."

Last year Thanet police were contacted by residents who were concerned that the money donor may have other motives for their generosity.

A police spokeswoman said: "If the generous postie is back in town then we would like to hear from people who do receive money. However, giving money away in this manner is not an offence and neither is receiving it."
