25 held in police drugs operation

POLICE have made more arrests in the continuing Operation Pirate, tackling the drugs distribution network in Thanet.

The nine arrests on Wednesday bring the total number to 25 over two days.

Among those held after raids on Wednesday were one woman and four men from South London, arrested in Kennedy House, Ramsgate.

Two more men, aged 42 and 20, were arrested in Hereson Road, Ramsgate, along with a 50-year-old woman.

Operation Pirate was launched on Tuesday at 5am, when police raided addresses in Westgate, Margate and Ramsgate.

Almost all those arrested in the raids have been charged with supply or intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
