A HOME and garden store will create about 90 jobs when it opens a new branch in Ramsgate.

Wilkinson has confirmed it will be taking over the former Tesco site in York Street, and plans to be open by the spring.

Recruitment is set to start in the next few weeks and details will be available at Ramsgate Job Centre, or on the company’s website www.wilko.co.uk

The majority of the positions will be part-time but there will also be a number of full-time posts available.

The two-storey, 23,000sq ft unit will be used to sell a range of everyday products including kitchenwares, housewares, clothing, DIY material and seasonal goods.

New store manager Dale Meredith said:

“We are delighted to be in Ramsgate and very much look forward to welcoming new customers to our town centre store.”

The Nottinghamshire-based company has 220 stores in England and Wales, all in town centres. The Ramsgate store will be the seventh in Kent.
