Thanet man flown to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after alleged assault in Northdown Road, Cliftonville

A man has been flown to hospital after an alleged assault in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident which reportedly began at 1.30am outside St Michael and St Bishoy Church, Northdown Road, saw a 29-year-old man from Thanet suffer head, neck and abdomen injuries.

A 22-year-old Thanet man was arrested at 4.30am on May 14 on suspicion of assault.

Police were called to Dalby Square, Cliftonville, after the incident

Kent Police spokesman Amanda Wills said: "Police were called at 2.33am on Saturday to Dalby Square, Cliftonville, following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

"The 29-year-old local man had suffered head injuries and was flown by air ambulance to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

"A 22-year-old local man was arrested and has been bailed until June 20 while inquiries continue."

Police say the victim is in a stable condition in hospital.
