Police and air ambulance called to The Broadway, Broadstairs after student hit by car

A student has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Broadstairs.

The 17-year-old boy was knocked down in The Broadway at 2.15pm, and was initially helped by a nurse from the nearby health centre.

Emergency crews then arrived and police closed the road while medics treated the victim, thought to be a Spanish student.

He was suffering from back pain and a head injury, and his condition was described as "potentially serious" by an ambulance spokesman.

The air ambulance landed in the grounds of a nearby rugby club, and the teenager was airlifted to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.
