A fundraising page has been set up by a group of mums for a family whose home was badly damaged by fire in St Peter's.

It follows an incident in Albion Road in which a woman was left fighting for her life with stab wounds on Wednesday morning. A child was also taken to hospital with minor injuries and another as a precaution.

It led to a man in his 20s being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He remains in custody and the woman is in a serious but stable condition in a London hospital.

Now a fundraising page has been set up by Sophie Wiggins, who lives in Ramsgate and works at Beech Tree Total Care in Birchington.

On it she writes: "We're raising £1,000 for the children after the attack on their mum left them without anything after their house was burnt down

"We, as mums ourselves, have decided we are going to try and help her and her children as they have lost everything. Donations of any kind I am sure will be greatly received."
