Armed police respond to incident near Bromstone Primary School in Broadstairs

Armed police have arrested a man after stopping a car near a primary school in Broadstairs this afternoon.

Eyewitnesses report firearms officers converging near Bromstone Primary School in Rumfields Road just after 1pm.

A spokesman for the school said there was an incident outside but it was not involved.

Police spokesman Adam Westgarth said: "Firearms officers stopped a vehicle in the Pysons Road area of Broadstairs at 11.34am.

"A local man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He remains in custody."

Police stopped a car in Pysons Road

Rumfields Road and Bromstone Road were blocked of by police while the operation in adjoining Pysons Road was carried out.
