Armed robbery at newsagents in Broadstairs

Police are hunting a gunman after an armed robbery at the Kingsgate Newsagents in Broadstairs.

A shop worker was threatened with a firearm during the raid, which happened in George Hill Road at around 4.15pm.

The man escaped with an unspecified quantity of cash.

A police spokesman said: "A man is reported to have threatened a member of staff with a firearm before stealing money and running away.

"Firearms officers were called to the scene."
