Man arrested on suspicion of burglary after group spotted on building site in Chandos Road, Broadstairs

A man has been arrested after a group of people were spotted acting suspiciously at a building site.

Police received a report at around 11.15pm on Thursday that people with torches were on a building site in Chandos Road, Broadstairs, and were believed to be stealing items.

As the people left, local response officers were able to work quickly with CCTV operators to track their direction of travel.

The suspects were seen again near the High Street and ran away on seeing police.

One was stopped and arrested – within an hour of the burglary being reported – and enquiries are ongoing to identify the remaining two.

The 21-year-old man, from Broadstairs, who was arrested on suspicion of burglary, has been bailed until October 11.
