Elderly woman critical after car crash in Broadstairs

An elderly woman is fighting for her life in hospital this morning after being involved in a collision in Broadstairs.

The 87-year-old was driving a blue Nissan Micra when she was involved in a collision with two other cars.

The incident, which also involved a silver Honda Civic estate and a black Audi Q5, happened at the junction of The Silvers and Northwood Road at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dash cams following the three-way crash

The woman is currently in a critical condition at a hospital in London.

The driver of the Honda, a 42-year-old man from Broadstairs, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and later released from custody pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for information regarding the incident.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of any of the vehicles involved are urged to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538 quoting reference HW/DS/83/19.
