An email from executive headteacher Ms Cardus to parents says: "The police attended this incident and no-one was hurt.

"This all happened before the end of the school day and no Charles Dickens students were involved.

"Please can you discuss with your child the requirement to go straight home, safely from school, rather than waiting around in large groups, outside of school, for length periods which only makes any situation worse.

"We thank you for your support with this matter."
