Biker airlifted to hospital after hitting car in Millmead Road in Margate

A motorcyclist has been airlifted to a London hospital, with life-threatening injuries, after hitting a parked car in Margate.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance were called to Millmead Road on Saturday evening.

The road was closed in both directions between Upper Dane Road and Kent Road.

The accident happened shortly after 5pm near Millmead Park and the incident affected traffic between Margate and Ramsgate for most of the evening.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "The rider, a man in his 20s, was travelling along College Road, B2052 on his blue Suzuki GSF 600 when he was involved in a collision with a black BMW 320i in Millmead Road.

"He was flown by air ambulance to a London hospital with serious injuries which are described as life threatening."

Investigators would like to talk to the driver of a black Audi estate, seen travelling in the opposite direction to the motorbike just before the collision on Millmead Road.

The spokesman added: "Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam or mobile phone footage. Anyone with CCTV is also asked to get in touch."
