A 40-year-old has appeared in court charged with the murder of a former Margate man.

Remzi Akguc is accused of killing Hidir Aksakal, 53, whose decomposed body was discovered in Epping Forest on the border of Essex and north east London.

Akguc was put before Redbridge Magistrates' Court yesterday and was remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

Turkish national Mr Aksakal, whose remains were discovered on September 9, previously lived in Thanet but also had close links to the Green Lanes area of Haringey, north London.
