Pedestrian suffers head injuries after being knocked down by car in Cliftonville

Police are appealing for information following the crash.

A young man is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car last night.

Kent Police were called to Northdown Road, in Cliftonville, at about 8.20pm after reports someone had been knocked down.

The pedestrian - believed to be a teenage boy - was treated by paramedics at the scene for head and leg injuries and the road was partially blocked.

He suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

Police closed Northdown Road between the junctions with Edgar and Sweyn Road until 9pm while the pedestrian was treated at the scene.

Two ambulances and a 4x4 response car attended the incident.
