Kent Police appeals for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Ramsgate Road, Margate

A 17-year-old boy was pushed to the floor after two men tried to steal his sports bag in an attempted robbery in Margate.

The victim was walking along Ramsgate Road towards Payton Close junction at around 6.50pm on January 7 when one of two men walking behind him tried to take the sports bag he was carrying.

After a scuffle the victim fell backwards and was pushed down to the ground when he tried to stand.

It was reported that he managed to fend off the suspect.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “The suspect is described as a white man in his late teens, with a slim build, around 6ft 1in tall.

“He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark hooded top - at the time he wore the hood up.

“His friend is described as the same age, Asian, and around 5ft 10ins tall with a stocky build - he wore a black jumper and black tracksuit bottoms and had cropped hair.”
