Westgate Bay Avenue in Westgate closed after car crashes into gate and parked vehicles

A driver has been arrested on suspicion of smashing into a gate and three parked vehicles - before fleeing the scene.

The alleged hit-and-run happened in Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate-on-Sea at about 6.50am.

The road was temporarily closed near Sussex Gardens while police investigated.

A 41-year-old man was arrested around two miles away in Fort Hill, Margate.

He is being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop after a crash and criminal damage.
