Cats rescued from pit behind Ramsgate High Street post office

An injured cat and its feline friend have been rescued from a pit by fire crews.

The cats had become stuck in a 12-foot ditch behind the post office in Ramsgate High Street this morning.

One fire engine was sent to the scene at about 9.50am and the trapped cats were brought to safety.

Both have been taken to the vets before being taken into the care of the Cats in Crisis (CIC) charity team.

A spokesman for CIC said: "The fire brigade very kindly came out to rescue the cats.
"Heartfelt thanks to them. Both cats at the vets now for a check up."

A fire service spokesman added: "KFRS was called to Ramsgate High Street at 9.50am to rescue two cats down a 12-foot pit.

"One fire engine attended and crews used a ladder to climb down and reach them."

Crews had left the scene by 10.20am.
