A child was rescued by firefighters after climbing into a cave and finding themselves unable to get down.

The youngster was in a spot of bother near Kingsgate Bay beach in Broadstairs this afternoon.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene shortly before 3pm after they were alerted by the coastguard.

Crews used a ladder to reach the child, who was then walked down by firefighters and reuinted with their parents.

The rescue effort took just over 20 minutes.
