A convenience shop in Ramsgate has been given the go ahead from the council to be turned into a family home.

Dunwells store, in Grange Road, is to be turned into a single house with rear parking access, the approved application published by Thanet council today shows.

The shop area and store room will be turned into a living room, study and reception/dining room.

The application states: "Over 80 years ago, this building was a single dwelling house and as part of this application, the current owner would like to change the building back into a single dwelling house.

"This application is for the change of use of the ground floor of the existing newsagent retail shop to one single family home with rear parking access from Sharps Place.

"The neighbouring residents will not be affected by the closure of this newsagent shop as there is already a local shop (Premier) serving the local community further down the road."

The front of the building will be altered and a wall and gate will be put up.
