Lawyers for Pinewood Studio have written to the owners of the former Manston Airport requesting they stop using their images in PR material.

The letter follows the announcement last week by owners Chris Musgrave and Trevor Cartner it was in discussion with a consortium interested in building a new film studio on the site as part of its redevelopment as a 750-acre business and housing park.

The pair’s PR firm used copyrighted images of the Pinewood Studio to illustrate how its own scheme could look at a press conference last week.

A studio, alongside other creative industries, which could create between 1,000 and 2,000 jobs, was unveiled as the centrepiece of the owners’ blueprint for the site last week.

Now the Buckinghamshire based studio has told the Manston owners to stop and to make it clear that Pinewood has nothing to do with the scheme.

A spokesman for Pinewood said “Our lawyers have written to them to ask them to desist [using pictures] and make it clear that there is no association between us. We have asked that they do not use copyrighted images.”

The PR company acting on behalf of the owners Trevor Cartner and Chris Musgrave has sent out a different image, saying it was unaware that the image it had used was copyrighted.
