With its spectacular skies, it's no wonder a much-loved Kent beach is known to locals as "The Bay of Sunsets".

The horizon at Minnis Bay in Thanet often boasts an array of vibrant colours, which bounce off its idyllic coastline on a daily basis.

But is the seafront on the north-west coast of Birchington-on-Sea the best spot in Kent to snap a sunset scene?

We take a look at some of the best, shared in the past few months by proud locals.

One resident, Ian Noble, snaps the sky on a regular basis.

"I only moved to Birchington two years ago during the pandemic and I love it here," he said.

"Every evening is another spectacular view, no two days are the same. I'm so lucky to live here."

The bay is loved by amateur photographers who beautifully picture the kaleidoscopic skies.

Many of the photographers capture the sunsets on their mobile phones and share them to local Facebook groups.

David Larkins has lived in the village for 20 years and regularly takes photos from the balcony of his flat, lovingly known to the village as "The Buddha Bay Balcony".

'The Bay of Sunsets' makes the perfect picture spot, with views of the Reculver Towers, sea birds, boats and wind turbines in the distance.

But it's not just Minnis Bay that's blessed with the spectacular sights.

All over the village an array of twilight delights are seen.

Paul Champelovier loves seeing the sun through the cedar tree in his garden on Queen Bertha's Avenue.

"Having lived in London most of my life it's an amazing sight to see some of the beautiful sunsets on offer here in Birchington," he said.

Thanet has long been known for its picturesque towns, with Margate being crowned one of the most Instagrammable places in the UK.

But for those who live there, you can't beat a Minnis Bay sunset.
