A scheme which has been a lifeline to those suffering domestic violence in Thanet has been re-launched after organisers saw a drop in numbers.

The Thanet Domestic Abuse One Stop Shop opens every Wednesday between 1pm and 3pm at a secure location in Margate.

The drop-in session is there for anyone, male or female, as long as they are survivors of domestic violence.

Dee Neligan is Thanet’s Domestic Abuse Coordinator: “We are going to be offering a range of free advice that people can get hold of if they are experiencing domestic abuse including advice from specialist domestic abuse services.

"We will have free legal advice from local solicitors, Kent Police will be there and KCA will offer advice on any substance misuse issues.

“It has been running for about 10 years but we are re-launching it now in a bid to get more people through the doors. We have helped many hundreds of people during that time but we have slightly improved the service, we will have more professionals on hand to offer advice at any one time.

To find out more on where the drop in centre is call Dee on 07926 842 183 or call the National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247 for more advice.
