A Ramsgate woman plunged 15ft in her underwear from a window – during a drugs raid by police officers.

Officers burst into the property in Clements Road shouting: “Police with a warrant!” – and saw two people jumping out of the window.

When they peered down, they discovered 31-year-old Emma Percy and a man – both in their underwear – “in clear pain”.

Percy, who had to be flown to a London hospital by air ambulance, is now pregnant – but has been told she will give birth inside prison.

She pleaded guilty to two charges of possessing class A drugs intending to supply them after seeking a likely maximum sentence for admitting her guilt.

Canterbury Crown Court how police had gone to the address and after ensuring Percy and her male friend were receiving treatment for their injuries, began a search.

Prosecutor Craig Evans said they discovered 25 wraps of heroin and crack cocaine – with a street value of up to £300 - hidden in a black purse under a mattress on the lounge floor.

Officers also seized four mobile phones, which contained Percy’s DNA, and 13 pages of text messages asking for heroin to be supplied.

Simon Taylor, defending, said Percy, now of Abbots Hill, Ramsgate, was taken to King’s College Hospital and treated for a fractured pelvis and back and internal bleeding.

He said she needed the use of a wheelchair and spent six weeks in hospital following the fall.

Mr Taylor added that Percy, who has 14 previous offences including possessing heroin, had since become pregnant.

She was planning to make an application to be allowed to give birth in a special mother and baby unit inside jail.

He asked the judge to pass a sentence which would allow her to be released before the child was 18 months old – as jail rules prohibited an older baby being kept behind bars.

“No mother can have a child in prison for longer than 18 months. Since becoming pregnant she has made strenuous efforts to beat her drugs addiction,” he added.

The judge, Recorder Jason Dunn-Shaw jailed her for 27 months – meaning she would be released halfway through the term.

"You should be released well in time and you should receive assistance inside jail to help you remain drugs free," he added.

As she was being led away, a man in the public gallery – believed to be the expectant father – shouted “I love you”.
