Kent Police, RNLI, Coastguard and helicopter in search for missing person in Ramsgate

Police cars, a helicopter, the coastguard and RNLI lifeboats have been spotted searching the coastline this afternoon.

It comes after a person was reported missing from the Ramsgate area this morning.

Maritime and Coastguard spokesman Sam Sinclair said: "At 12.35pm today, Kent Police asked the UK Coastguard for assistance in the search for a missing person in Ramsgate.

"Margate and Deal Coastguard Rescue Teams, Ramsgate RNLI inshore and all weather lifeboats have been sent to assist with the search alongside Kent Police."

Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: "Police received a report of a missing person from Ramsgate at 10.47am on Monday, May 9, and are searching the area."
