Firefighters are reminding people to get their chimneys swept regularly after a blaze broke out in a chimney.

Two fire engines were sent to a property in Grange Road, Ramsgate, at about 4.30pm yesterday.

Crews put out the blaze using chimney fire rods from inside the property; as well as a fog spike to create a hole and spray water into the chimney from outside.

Following this incident, firefighters are urging anyone with a chimney to sign up for a free "clean sweep alert" - an annual reminder to have chimneys swept and maintained.

More information can be found on the fire service's website.
