Voters in Thanet have taken to the polls to have their say on who will represent them on Kent County Council.

Residents were also asked to cast their vote in a by-election for the Newington, Dane Valley and Central Harbour wards to fill the three vacant seats on Thanet District Council. (Scroll down for live results)

The authority is currently made up of 25 Conservatives, 17 Labour members, six from the Thanet Independent Group, three Greens and two independents.

Despite not holding the majority, the council is led by the Labour Party, with Cllr Helen Whitehead as interim leader, after the resignation of Cllr Rick Everitt last month.

During the poll, people were also asked to chose who will represent them in the Central Harbour ward on Ramsgate Town Council and had their say on who should be the county's Police and Crime Commisioner.
