A crowdfunder has been launched to support the grieving mum of a little girl who tragically died in Margate.

In a heartbreaking interview, 32-year-old Camille Remekie told KentOnline how her life has been destroyed by her daughter's death.

Dajahnel Young, known by her middle name Amazin, was found floating lifeless in the sea in Margate harbour on a hot summer's day last July.

Speaking outside an inquest into her death, her mum Camille said that since losing her only child she has been unable to work and is struggling financially.

Camille, from Croydon, had not been at the beach on the day Amazin died.

She yesterday said she made the "worst mistake" of her life when she allowed estranged family friends to take her on the trip.

"She was everything to me - my whole life was basically living for her," she said. "Everything's just destroyed.

"I don't even know what's going on in my life at the moment. I can't focus to do anything.

"After the funeral everybody just went their own direction. Nobody supported me, they did not even come to the inquest.

"I think people are looking at it like I'm the one that's in the wrong.

"I blame myself."

The interview prompted an emotional response from the Thanet community as hundreds of residents were moved by her story.

Becci Geach, from Margate, has now launched a donations page, through which she hopes to raise money to help support Miss Remekie.

She writes: "This tragedy shocked the town of Margate and has left Amazin's mother Camille Remekie devastated, and unable to work due to immense grief for the loss of her little girl.

"Nothing can ever bring Amazin back, but we can pull together as a community and give something for Camille in her time of need."
