Broadstairs: Hockey stick attack in Westover Road leads to five arrests

Two victims suffered facial injuries after they were assaulted with a hockey stick.

The pair were trying to stop a group attack in Westover Road, Broadstairs, but were pounced upon when they intervened.

Prior to the hockey stick assault, two other victims were attacked by the five-person group in Beacon Road at about 7pm last night.

Police have arrested five people

Two 14-year-old boys from Margate and a 13-year-old boy from Broadstairs were arrested nearby on suspicion of assault.

Police also detained a 14-year-old girl and 34-year-old woman, both on suspicion of affray.

All five remain in custody.

Police were alerted to the behaviour of the group following a report of people causing damage to a fence in Beacon Road.
