Thanet man in court after woman's medication taken from handbag in Margate

A man will appear in court accused of stealing a handbag which contained her medication.

Homeless Ronald Murtagh stood before magistrates in Medway today after he was arrested yesterday.

The 43-year-old has been charged with robbery after an incident in Westbrook Avenue, Margate last month.

A woman in her 20s reported a handbag was snatched containing her purse, keys and medication while she was walking down the road at about midnight on June 23.

Murtagh has also been charged with theft from a shop in Margate town centre.

The charge relates to an incident in The Centre on July 12.
