Firefighters have battled a huge blaze after it broke out in a field.

Four engines and an all-terrain vehicle were scrambled to the area in St Nicholas-at-Wade, near Birchington.

Crews arrived yesterday at 6.55pm to discover 900sq m of crop stubble alight.

The blaze was soon under control by about 7.45pm.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is unknown.
