Ramsgate: Police investigate cause of cellar fire in Hardres Street

Police are investigating the cause of a fire which broke out in the cellar of The Victoria restaurant in Hardres Street, Ramsgate, last Monday.

While at the scene, fire crews found evidence of disused cannabis cultivation.

A number of people were treated for smoke inhalation after emergency services were called out to the fire in the building, which also has flats.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police is investigating a fire which took place in the cellar of a premises in Hardres Street, Ramsgate, during the early hours of Monday 13 November 2017.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated and while fire crews were at the scene evidence of a non-recent, disused cannabis cultivation was uncovered.

“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
