Margate: Man arrested after pedestrian hit by car

A man who was reportedly brandishing a knife has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a car.

Police and paramedics were called at 11.24am to a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Cowper Road in Margate.

A 43-year-old man, who is suspected of being in possession of a knife, has now been arrested in connection with the incident.

Social media users reported a man 'going crazy' with a meat cleaver or machete. Inquiries are ongoing.

The pedestrian was not seriously injured but was treated by ambulance staff as a precaution.

Officers are still at the scene and witnesses say that forensic officers are also present.
