Police car crashes in Ramsgate after chase as man arrested

A police car crashed following a chase with a suspect.

Officers launched a pursuit in Ramsgate after seeing a suspicious vehicle through the town earlier today.

Witnesses earlier reported seeing police on blue lights following a blue Ford Focus at around 11.40am.

Residents on social media posted saying they had seen the chase through Nixon Avenue, Clements Road and Fairlight Avenue.

A photo shared on Facebook this afternoon showed damage to the front bumper of the police vehicle.

No officers are believed to have been injured in the crash.

A police spokesman said: "A vehicle in the St Luke’s Avenue area of Ramsgate failed to stop when requested by officers to do so, and it was found abandoned a short time later in Fairlight Avenue.

"Following a search of the area, a man was arrested in connection with the incident."
