A man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in Margate.

The alleged victim is said to have been attacked in Hawley Street at 3.11am yesterday.

Police were sent to the scene and spoke to the woman.

A 45-year-old man from Birchington has since been taken into custody.

Following questioning, he was released on bail until October 10 while officers continue to investigate.
