Ramsgate: Man suffers burns in fire in Ashburnham Road

A man suffered burns in a blaze at a house not fitted with smoke alarms.

Crews were called to a kitchen fire in Ashburnham Road in Ramsgate last night.

The occupant had extinguished the fire, which involved an overheated grill.

Firefighters gave first aid to the casualty before he was passed into the care of the ambulance service.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "We remained at the property to fit some smoke alarms, as there were none present."

An ambulance spokesman added: "One ambulance crew attended the scene.

"The man, who had suffered burns was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to QEQM Hospital."
