Man charged with student's murder is remanded in custody

A 45-year-old man has appeared before magistrates in Canterbury, charged with murdering a Margate student.
Unemployed Ian Deadman, of Canterbury Road, Margate, has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Maidstone Crown Court on September 29.
Deadman is charged with murdering 25-year-old Tommy Balsom, who was found by officers called out to reports of a disturbance in Canterbury Road at around 10.45pm on Monday (September 8).
A post mortem revealed that Mr Balsom died from a single stab wound.
Two other men arrested after the incident have since been released without charge.
