Man denies murdering man found in house in Dane Road, Margate

A man has appeared by prison video link this morning to plead not guilty to murdering a 47-year-old man in Margate.

Jonathan Cottrell, 34, of Appleton Road, Cliftonville, is accused of killing Karsten Holmes in Dane Road on July 28.

Cottrell appeared at Maidstone Crown Court

The trial, which is expected to last for 10 days, is due to be heard at Maidstone Crown Court in January next year.

Philip Bennetts QC is expected to present the case for the prosecution and Jonathan Higgs QC will lead for the defence.

Emergency crews had been called to Dane Road, where Mr Holmes was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Following a post-mortem examination detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation.
