A 55-year-old man is being questioned by police after an alleged arson at a Ramsgate flat.

Police were called at 5.45pm tonight to an address in Rothsay Court, in Argyll Drive.

A man had reportedly locked himself inside a flat there.

But as officers were negotiating with the man, a fire was said to have started within the property.

Firefighters put out the fire and no-one was hurt.

A man from Reculver has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
