Man quizzed after woman is 'run down'

A YOUNG man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a road traffic accident in a town centre.

The alleged incident happened early on Saturday morning in The Broadway in Broadstairs at around 3am.

It left an 18-year-old woman with serious injuries to her face, as well as a broken leg, pelvis, fingers, jaw and cheekbone. She is being treated in hospital where he condition is described as "serious".

Kent Police say a 20-year-old man from Chestfield was arrested in Canterbury about 10.30am on Saturday. He has been bailed pending a Crown Prosecution Service decision to prosecute.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Det Sgt Claire Munday at Margate police station on 01843 222 053.

CCTV footage of the area is being scanned as part of the police investigation.
