A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after being rescued by fire crews from a house fire in Margate this morning.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in Mere Gate near Tivoli park at 11am to tackle a fire in a first floor bedroom.

They rescued a 24-year-old man and gave him oxygen treatment after he suffered breathing difficulties because of the smoke.
