Margate's Turner Contemporary art gallery 'to match artist's impressions by spring'

Work on Margate's largest regeneration project continues at a rapid pace, with the imposing Turner Contemporary structure expected to be fully clad and watertight within months.

Officials say the multi-million pound art gallery will look identical to promotional pictures by the spring.

The installation of mechanical and electrical services is well under way, while work on the building's concrete plinth and an access ramp to the south terrace and main entrance started earlier this month.

The landscape design has also been finalised and comprises new seating and street furniture, as well as remodelled steps to the waterfront promenade and soft landscaping above the retaining wall at Fort Hill.
