Yesterday, police reported that the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 40s, and the passenger, a woman in her 30s, both received serious injuries and were taken to a London hospital.

However, they confirmed today that the man died of his injuries at the scene, and that next of kin have been made aware.

The driver of the van, a 56-year-old man from Broadstairs, aided the police in their investigation into the incident, which happened at about 8.20pm.
