A nuisance house which had become a magnet for anti-social behaviour has been closed down by police.

The property in Margate Road, Ramsgate, was a hotbed for drug dealing, shouting, assaults and loud music.

Neighbours alerted police, and following two months of misery and repeated call-outs, the house has now been shut down.

Everyone aside from council employees or contractors are now barred from entering the premises until May 26.

The police closure order, which is supported by Thanet District Council, was successfully applied for on Thursday at Folkestone Magistrates Court.

Anyone who enters the house in breach of the order could be liable for a fine or a prison sentence.

Inspector Paul Robson, from the Thanet Community Safety Unit, said: "Kent Police fully understands the impact that anti-social behaviour has on those living near properties like this one.

"We are committed to working with partner agencies and using every tool available us to ensure Thanet continues to be a safe and happy place to live and work.

"My officers will continue working in communities where anti-social behaviour concerns have been raised to ensure we take action against offenders."
