Three year groups have been told not to go to school following a boiler failure.

Key stage three pupils at Chatham and Clarendon Grammar in Ramsgate are staying home for the next two days.

Heating engineers say the boiler is beyond repair, meaning temperatures have plummeted at the site.

The school says pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 should not attend in-person classes today or tomorrow, December 8.

Other age groups are still expected to go in as their parts of the school remain open.

An emergency heating system is set to be installed on Saturday, allowing the site to fully reopen on Monday.

The school said: “While we know the situation is not ideal, we have been working hard to find a solution.”

Pupils will be set to work online and lessons will be via Teams calls.
