Ramsgate: Pensioner dies after crash in private ambulance

Detectives have launched an investigation after a pensioner died following a crash involving an ambulance.

Police were called to a report that a private firm's ambulance had overturned on the A299 Hengist Way, Ramsgate.

The vehicle was travelling from the Minster roundabout and the collision took place by the Cliffsend roundabout.

It happened at 1.39am on Saturday, February 3.

The patient in the ambulance, a 66-year-old man from Sturry, died the following day. Two other men sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Following the results of a post mortem and further tests, an investigation into the collision and subsequent death has now been launched by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
