Police and air ambulance called after man hit by car in Hawley Square, Margate

Emergency crews were called after a man was hit by a car.

Police, ambulance and air ambulance teams rushed to Hawley Square in Margate town centre just after 1pm.

The helicopter could be seen hovering overhead, before landing in the square to help the victim.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police, along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the air ambulance are currently at the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

"The road is currently closed while the 25-year-old man is attended to. We were called at 1.08pm."

The air ambulance left the scene just after 2pm and police re-opened the road at about 2.20pm.

The extent of the man's injuries is not yet known.
